South Wales Man aiming for championship racing success

A South Wales man is looking to build on his rookie season in last year's TOYO Tyres Production BMW Championship. Cwmbran's Miles Cook races at prestigious circuits such as Silverstone, Brands Hatch and Donington in his 1980s BMW E30 in the production spec series. It gives the 36 year old's young family monthly camping holidays around the country, and there's always a variety of things to do. Said Miles Cook, "We learnt a lot last year, not just about competing in motorsport and where to improve lap times on the sheets, but also a lot as a family! It's great variety for us especially the kids, and we're learning all the good soft plays, theme parks and beaches around the country, so they love it and our road trips. Last year we won the Jackie Stewart trophy for places gained over the season, in part thanks to our sponsors Go Compare for supporting us through the year, so we're hoping for more partners to come onboard and come with us on this journey. This year we're aiming to push up the grid and get in to the top 5 in the championship. And despite it being club racing it's fiercely competitive, so it's a big ask, but we'll give it a go!".

Racing under the team name CookRacing UK, Miles finished joint 10th in the championship last year, and this year will be pushing higher in his second season. This year looks even more promising, helped by a rule change to promote equality between cars. The tightly controlled regulations keep costs down making the budget series more attractive to drivers and their sponsors, but for 2019 they go a step further and will introduce a power to weight ratio. This will aim to equalise 30 year old engines rebuilt over the years increasing their power, saving thousands of pounds in the quest to being more competitive.

News updates and videos throughout the season will continue to be posted to the team's Facebook page, at and Miles can be contacted at
